The Sell-Ready Home Kit: 8 Simple Buys Before Listing Photos

Most homes don't need a renovation before they go on the market. They need a calm, consistent refresh: crisp bedding, matching hangers, even light, clean walls and a front door that looks cared for. These are the pieces I reach for when I help a seller get ready for photos and showings. One pick per job, nothing extra.

Bedrooms and bathrooms
Crisp white bedding: Bedsure Prewashed Duvet Cover (White). White bedding photographs bright and reads as fresh in every bedroom shot. This one is prewashed, so it looks relaxed instead of shiny-out-of-the-package.
Matching white towels: American Soft Linen 6-Piece Turkish Towel Set. Choose white. Fold one bath towel and one hand towel per bathroom and put everything else away until closing.
Closets and storage
Matching hangers: Zober Slim Velvet Hangers, 50 Pack. Buyers open closets. One set of slim, matching hangers makes a closet look bigger and organized in about ten minutes.
Lidded bins: StorageWorks Fabric Storage Bins with Lids. Everything that shouldn't be in photos (mail, chargers, toys, toiletries) goes in a bin and onto a closet shelf. Lids keep it looking intentional if a buyer peeks.
Walls and light
Paint touch-ups: Slobproof Refillable Touch-Up Paint Pens. Fill them with your existing wall paint and fix scuffs in hallways and stairwells without opening a can.
Scuff and fingerprint removal: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Light switches, door frames and baseboards. Test a hidden spot first, especially on flat paint.
One color of light: Amazon Basics LED Bulbs, Soft White, 16-Pack. Swap every bulb to the same warm white so rooms don't look patchy in photos. Our Portland light is low most of the year, so this one matters here more than people expect.
The front door
A pair of tall planters: Veradek Pure Series Taper Planter. Order two, one on each side of the door, and plant an evergreen so they still look good in a rainy November. Add a fresh doormat and the first photo of your listing already feels cared for.
Put it all on a calendar
Buying the pieces is the easy part. The hard part is doing everything in the right order without the last two weeks turning into chaos. My Home Sale Prep Calendar gives each job its own week, from repairs and decluttering to paint, staging and photo day. If you'd like the full walkthrough first, read how to get your home ready to sell in 6 weeks.
